Digital Twin Capture

Digital Twin Creation, often called 3D Reality Capture is a service that Scan Skunks has offered the longest. Branching from the property and real estate marketing realms, digital twin creation entails collecting as much on-site data as possible, reconstructing, and preserving in a digital format. The purposes for creating a digital twin are endless.

Several of our clients simply like to have this myriad of information for building logistics and wayfinding. Use as a promotional tool to display meeting rooms spaces and guestrooms in a hotel. Digital twins can be used for insurance and audit purposes. Online Stores can utilize the 3d Virtual spaces to show real life application while adding a hyperlink to checkout online afterwards. We have also used these tools to get LOD 200 quality point clouds from for our Scan to BIM and As-Built Drawings services. Museum exhibits can be captured and held in perpetuity well after the installation moves on. Tours can be used to assess damage to a home or property for insurance purposes. Inventory can be counted by storlling the digital stacks of a warehouse.

Reality Capture has been a fun wave to ride in the last decade, and the possibilities are still maturing. We look forward to where the next dozen years will take us in this realm.

Site Audit Capture for Construction Progress

Oftentimes, when it's not possible for an architect to inspect the work he or she has so carefully crafted on paper. Scan Skunks routinely visits job sites to take 360 photography of projects to report back to the architect. Not only is this useful in the short term for change orders and site conditions, but this also helps in long term project audit.

We don't necessarily know how or what the 360 imagery we take on site will be used for, but it is representative of "what existed at a specific time".  Scan Skunks is available to make digital twins at regular intervals and for one-time service. Every project has areas that are particularly troublesome. Oftentimes, we are guided on where to look onsite to pay special attention. Extra attention can be given to these areas. We often carry a lighting kit when no power is available and can take video where needed.
